Rules and Regulations

General Guidelines

Player’s Turn

1. Once the game commences, lap time for each player will be recorded by the Game Official with a stopwatch.

2. The duration of each player’s turn is indicated in the Game’s rules and must be strictly adhered to.

3. The Game Official will press the LAP Button when the turn is over.

4. Failing to make a move within the allocated duration of the turning will result in a warning from the Game Official. In-Game Penalties will be given after 3 warnings. These warnings and penalties will be recorded by the Game Official.

Game Setup

1. Setting up of the Game Board will be done by the Game Official. Players are not allowed to help out.

Game Play

1. Playing order of players is to be determined by 2 die roll. The Player with the highest and lowest die roll value will start first and last respectively. In the event of a tie, the players will roll the die again and place themselves accordingly with respect to the other players. Players will then seat themselves in a clockwise direction based on the turn order as determined.

2. Game Official will play Banker in the game (if required).

3. Cards will be shuffled via random sorting by the Game Official in front of the players before the Game commences. The Game Official will also distribute the cards to the players, one at a time.

4. Each Game will be played to the end. No Game will be disrupted or stopped once it has commenced.

Competition Timing and Scoring

Blokus
Turn time: 45 seconds
Game time: 30 minutes (though it should end before that)
Scoring: As per game. At the end, if winners are tied, both players should be allowed into the finals (if numbers allow).

Settlers of Catan
Turn time: 3 minutes (inclusive of trading)
Game time: 1 hour (unfinished game expected)
Scoring: Victory Points at the end of that turn (after last player plays). Warning will be given 5 minutes before end of game, so that any last surge increase in VP would be fair to all players. If by end of turn, no clear winner can be determined, a new turn would be played until a player is clearly determined.

Dividends
Turn time: 1 minute
Game time: 1 hour
Scoring: Based on cash in hand. If game does not end by 1 hour, the Year in question is played to the end before scoring is recorded.

Ticket to Ride
Turn time: 30 seconds
Game time: 1 hour
Scoring: Points. If by end of 1 hour game is not resolved, the player with the fewest stock of train will be declared as the last player, and every player (including that player) would be given a final turn.

Sudoku
Prelim game time: 1 hour
Finals game time: 1 hour (though winner should be determined before that, hopefully)
Scoring: Based on time, the shorter the better. Every wrong digit adds 45 seconds to the time.
